Then & Again

Poetry by Indu Subaiya

The Affair

I am lying in bed
with an empty space to my left,
which you will reclaim tonight,
while I am softly sleeping.
You will wonder who
I’m dreaming about
(because you left,
door slamming)
and why in silent repose,
I’m smiling, but darling,
it is just the lilies of Oliver,
the myths of Cummings.
